2simplifi Online Subscriptions

Q: For recurring subscriptions, is it possible for the application to automatically batch process credit cards and send email notifications to customers, instead of requiring the administrator to click on each subscription and manually process the credit card as shown in the on-line documentation? For example, if I have 1000 customers with subscriptions billed weekly, it would be unreasonable to manually process so many each week. For the on-line demonstration, what is the correct login userid and password?

A: Obviously because of the myriad number of possibilities for 3rd party batch processing APIs, the application, as is does not have that functionality, but if you are a developer, because of the open source you could implement your custom code to accommodate your processor etc.

For example your API processor may accept a text file, (csv) or Excel file etc. A query could be performed to generate that text or excel file using cffile to generate "today's" due subscriptions. Then you could download the file to upload or ftp to your API.

The only challenge or concern is that somehow the results need to get back to the 2simplifi Online Subscriptions application to update the new due dates if the credit cards are approved etc. If your API processor allows a CSV to be created after the processing of your initial file, perhaps the results can be imported back into the OS database and updated.

If you are not technical we can also assist in customizing a solution if the above is possible with your API processor.(i.e. Authorizenet etc.).

2simplifi Job Board
Q: I am using a godaddy host.

Have you run into any issues with that setup and I am also learning flex do you foresee any issues with a flex frontend?
I am new to CF and Flex obviously, 1st year out of school.
Is there a trial program?(i.e. encrypted source)

Does the software also offer searching through real docs (i.e. searching  through an uploaded word doc)?

Is uploading a word doc one of the functions?

I didn't see that.

Thanks for all of your info and help.
A: I am not familiar at all with GoDaddy and how they work, but as long as they are running CF and SQL Server you should be OK.

Quite honestly you would not use this application with Flex per se... Flex is an MXML language and would only use CF Components to call outside ColdFusion Applications.

There is no encrypted temp version however the demos reflect exactly what you receive in the download.

There is no verity search against documents and there is not an upload feature to upload resumes, but I have customized that for other sites and can make that feature available.
If I can be of further assistance, please feel free to make contact.

2simplifi Online Subscriptions & eStore

Q: I need to know the Payment implementation method for both the eStore and Online Subscriptions programs. I wish to Us Paypal and An a Merchant account thru Chase.

A: Both applications have examples for Authorizenet (AIM) API real time credit card processing. Since it is open source and as long as you are familiar with ColdFusion, you should be able to implement any 3rd party real time credit card processing solution, as long as they provide an SDK API so you can match the variables. http://www.cfmxsolutions.com/us/index.cfm?page=product&id=9&kbid=326

Example:

The 2simplifi eStore, only supports the posting method of PayPal. To keep the initial costs of the applications lower we have not developed PayPal implementations, but again because it open source you can implement it as desired.

ColdFusion CFImage Capabilities

Q: What guidelines should be used for uploading photos? If someone uploads a 2.5 mb photo, does the program automatically adjust the image size, rather than just displaying the photo at a defined size? I imagine that for the sake of upload time (if nothing else) it should be recommended that users size their photos to some preset width. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A: Most photos taken with a digital camera, after importing to the computer can range from 2.0 to 5.0+ MB and their overall size exceeds a pixel width of 2000. From my experience, I think limiting the uploaded photo(s) initially to a maximum size would cause more problems, in that the photos are probably right off the users hard drive and the majority of people may not know how to minimize the photos to the allowed size, which may cause inquiries and frustration. The current ColdFusion cfimage tag, in the code, will resize the photos to 640 pixels and will also reduce the file size of the image overall.

2simplifi Ad Clicks Manager
Q. Does the ad manager give your site a random ad when the page comes up?
A. This is done by relating the ad id to the IP address and creating a list in the database field. As an example, say one ad spot has 5 ads available and when the visitor first comes to the site, their list will be 1,2,3,4,5. When that visitor moves to another page the list becomes 2,3,4,5,1 (1 moves to the end of the list as long as the ad is still active and allowed - has not expired or used all impressions etc.).

Q. Is there a place to control the number of characters permitted in a text ad?

A: I can add this feature if you want to - but the original codes does not have a limit... As an avid Google Ad Words user I hate the text limitations and thought this would make my application stand out if it did not limit input.

Q. Is the features that bases ads on keywords optional? Does this feature, when activated, conflict with Google’s Adsense requirement that there be no other context driven ads on a page with their Adsense ads?
A: Yes, keywords are optional. You would have supply them in the back office and then customers would select the keyword(s) that would be required to display their ads. This option actually hurts you as the owner of the site,
especially if the ads are pay per click or impression, because if the ad is limited to keywords it will take longer for the customer to buy again.
It does not effect AdSense at all.

Q. Can it be integrated with the classified ad app, ie. Use the same credit card processing, etc, use the same "about Us" ..etc, pages?
A: Not a problem, you can even place the adds on your original site or any other website, (embed option).

Current Clients using the system:

Right side banner and text ads

All ads on the site

Right Hand Side Banners

Q. On the Ad Clicks Manager, is it possible to have multiple layouts for the text ads, i.e., horizontal, and/or vertical formats?
A: Not right now, but I can add this feature if you want to

2simplifi E-mail Contact Pro

Q: Hello. We are receiving an error when trying to attach a pdf, word doc or excel doc to a Sendout. Here is the error:

Invalid Attachment File Type.
Your FILE attachment is not in an acceptable format. Please try again.

Is there a setting that will allow us to attach them?

A: On the back office home page, in the 3rd column under "Administrative Properties" click on "Manage Mime Types". I added the pdf, word, excel mime types to the list and I was able to upload a pdf document as an attachment. This should now work for the document types that you listed.

If you need to upload other document types simply make sure that the mime-type for the file type that you want to upload exist in the list on this page. Depending on the file there may be more proprietary mime-types specific to the vendor that you may need to track down.  There is a link at the bottom of this page that contains a list of typical mime-types.
